IMDB's TOP 250 in 2.5 minutes!

Each year the Academy Awards attempts to pay tribute to the glories of the art and evolution of the film medium through montages - some good, some not so good. While the Academy must count some of the best editors in Hollywood among its number, its montages are more often forgettable than they are fun, and are much less worthy of going viral (the horror montage from 2010 with Twilight was particularly terrible). If they really want to attract younger demographics they need to marry the kind of love of cinema and vibrant enthusiasm that cinephile Jonathan Keogh does on his Youtube mashups.

An incorrigible movie maniac, Keough has done mashups of 163 horror movies, and one of the Criterion Collection, and now he's made his most accessible mashup yet, pulled from IMDB's top 250…and then some. Check out his latest masterful movie montage below:

The IMDB Top 250 is a list of the films most beloved by registered users of the Internet Movie Database, and ranked on a scale of 1 to 10. Presently,The Shawshank Redemption tops this list, followed by The GodfatherPart Ithen Part IIPulp Fiction and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. But while this ever shifting and often debated list inspired his latest video, Keogh confesses to his "haters" in his caption that he couldn't leave out some of his own personal favorites—like the John Hughes classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Martin Scorsese's Bringing Out the Dead—even if they didn't make IMDB's list. Whether or not you share Keough's taste in movies, it's clear he's put together an incredibly effective edit, deftly pulling together some of the most iconic moment in modern cinema with a funky yet fitting soundtrack that dares you not to groove along.

Don't sweat the haters, Jonathan. Just keep the hits coming.
