Terrell Owens knows an opportunity when he sees one.
With the New York Jets struggling on national TV Monday night, the one-time great, but now unemployed, NFL receiver Terrell Owens picked up his phone and tweeted out a message to CoachRex Ryan and company:
"Hey JETS!!! I'm available! I'm ready, willing & able! Call my agent @jordanwoy & let's make it happen."
Owens does have a point. The Jets do need some help in the receiving department, particularly with star Santonio Holmes on season-ending injured reserve. And there were several dropped passes during the team's 23-17 loss to the Houston Texans that night.
But is Owens the guy they need? He's one of the all-time best at his position but has not played in a game in more than a season. He was signed by the Seattle Seahawks during the off-season but was cut before the regular season.
Hold everything, though. Jets Coach Rex Ryan actually seems open to the idea of possibly bringing Owens in. Rich Cimini of ESPN New York tweeted Tuesday morning: "Rex on Terrell Owens: You never say never, will look at all options."
Kind of seems inevitable, don't you think? Rex Ryan welcoming the T.O. circus to town? Owens might be able to help out -- or at least he couldn't hurt. Well, wait a minute ...
What do you think? Is it a good idea for the Jets or a very, very bad one? Vote in the poll, then leave a comment letting us know why you voted the way you did.
