Nolan claims Man of Steel will be the biggest Super-Man Movie Ever?

During the Oscar Luncheons, The Playlist got to sit down with Christopher Nolan to talk about MAN OF STEEL and some thoughts on JUSTICE LEAGUE.
To start, the site asked Nolan if he was done with superhero flicks, and added that Warner Bros. may want him to produce on the JUSTICE LEAGUE film and possibly take on a Joss Whedon-like role in the future of D.C. films. He laughed then said, “Well, as I’ve said, and I’ll say definitively again, I am done with the Batman films, the trilogy is completed. It ended in the manner we had envisioned.” When it came to the question of being done with superhero films in general, the director smiled then answered, “Well, I’m producing Superman now and I’m enjoying time off and taking a break."
For those looking for similarities in MAN OF STEEL and the Batman franchise, you might be disappointed. Nolan understands that the two characters deserve different treatments. This is what he said about them possibly being similar, “Well, somewhat. But I wouldn’t want people to think we're doing for Superman what we did for Batman.”
He continued on about what we will be seeing in Zack Snyder's version of Supes, “It's very much Zack’s film and I think people are going to love what he's done. I think it's really remarkable to take on that character. Superman is a completely different character than Batman. So you can't in anyway use the same template. But David Goyer had this, I thought, brilliant way to make Superman relatable and relevant for his audience. Zack has built on that and I think it's incredible what he's putting together. He's got a lot of finishing to do on that. Superman is the biggest comic book character of them all and he needs the biggest possible movie version which is what Zack's doing. It's really something.”
Oh, and if you were wondering what Nolan's thoughts were on the ending of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES-- here's a little something. When The Playlist asked if he thought the ending was "radical" this is how he replied, “Radical? Hmm, yes, perhaps for the comic book fans it was. But I think it was appropriate ending for the story we set out to tell.”

Jamie Foxx Is Officially On For Spider-Man 2?

After rumored talkscrossed fingers, and less-than-obtuse comments from director Marc Webb on the matter, Jamie Foxx has seemingly officially joined production on the Sony sequel THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.  Listed without fanfare in the press release touting how Dane DeHaan had been chosento play Harry Osborn, Foxx's name came without any listed connection to any one character.  That being said, all signs currently point to the man taking on lead villain duties via the part of Electro, and Foxx recently dished a comment or two that revealed a bit about the current-channeling character's place in the whole Spidey scheme of things.  Nothing game-breaking, but fun to know nonetheless:
“Electro is a great character. I met with the director, Mark Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked… I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he’s a… genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns it on.”

Chris Nolan Wanted Heath Ledger To Play Batman!?

With Christopher Nolan‘s Dark Knight saga taking its final bow this month (The Dark Knight Rises is released on DVD Tuesday December 4), the great director himself sat down to answer some questions, reveal some behind-the-scenes info, and explaining what the experience meant to him. HitFix was present for the entire discussion, which encompassed topics as diverse as the director’s Bond aspirations, his disinterest with comics, and one Heath Ledger.
Most shockingly was the revelation that Nolan and Ledger had met during the casting process of Batman Begins, where Nolan had spoken to the young actor about possibly taking on the role of Bruce Wayne. After hearing Nolan’s proposal:
Ledger politely explained to the director why he would never be involved in a comic book film.
It wasn’t untill after the success of Batman Begins that Ledger showed signs of interest in jumping aboard the franchise. The gritty realism that is so characteristic of Nolan’s movies had made the actor “hungry” to take part:
Eventually Nolan met with Ledger again, this time for the specific role of the Joker. Ledger had seen Nolan do what he set out to do with “Batman Begins” and the interest was finally there
I really love the idea that Heath was up for the role of Batman but ended up playing his nemesis, The Joker. It speaks a lot toward the nature of the two character’s relationships; the notion that they are simply (sorry Harvey) two halves of the same coin the dark and light. Perhaps that’s reading a little too much into a coincidence, but knowing what a technical and specific filmmaker Nolan is makes me think he saw qualities in Heath that he wanted to embody in both Batman and The Joker.
I can’t impress on you how much you should read the original Hitfix article. While not providing any more juicy revelations, it does offer a fascinating look into the process that Heath underwent to become the character of The Joker. Nolan speaks of Heath’s voice changing so rapidlly during one page of dialog that the director and his crew had no idea what to expect while filming or rehearsing. It’s riviting stuff, and it makes me feel wonderful to know that such a talented actor crafted one of my favorite cinematic performances through hard-work, and as we’ve seen above, careful consideration.
Could Heath have made a convincing Bruce Wayne? I’m not sure if I can see it myself, especially knowing the world would have been denied such an incredible performance had the actor chosen the first offered entrance into Gotham City.

The King Returns for Season II - Howard Stern will return to America's Got Talent!

Howard Stern will make another go-around as a judge on NBC's "America's Got Talent."

The vocal shock jock took to the judge's chair in 2012 and helped the Peacock's reality staple remain No. 1 in summer, but the ratings didn't grow as some might have expected.
The Tuesday edition of "Talent" averaged a 3.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 11.7 million viewers overall, according to Nielsen.
"Howard Stern's presence and opinions on last season's show as a new judge made a dramatic impact and added a sharper edge to the fascinating developments onstage," said NBC's alternative topper Paul Telegdy.
Auditions for next summer's season are under way in several cities across the country.
"America's Got Talent" is produced by FremantleMedia North America and Syco Television. Simon Cowell, Jason Raff, Sam Donnelly and Trish Kinane are exec producers.
