What Movie to watch this Thanksgiving?

You go into every Thanksgiving holiday with the best of intentions, imagining a delicious meal, a family happy to be reunited, an afternoon of touch football in the yard, and then day after day of leftover turkey sandwiches (the best part of Thanksgiving, if you ask us). But then the weekend after the holiday rolls around and you're stuck: you're surrounded by family, everyone is bored and getting on each others' nerves, and the idea of doing some Black Friday shopping to get away from each other fills you with some serious dread.

Luckily there's one solution out there for all of us, every year: the movies! Hollywood, a place that understands better than anyone how your family can make you nuts, obliges us every year by releasing a whole ton of movies around the holiday, at least one of which is bound to appeal to everybody. And while there are a few films you can take almost anyone to and guarantee a success-- to keep the sky from falling on your holiday, if you know what we mean-- there are a lot of others you have to choose carefully. And that's where we come in.

While we normally let you peruse our site and make your own choices about moviegoing, we know that Thanksgiving is a tricky holiday, so we're here to help. Below is our guide to all the new movies coming to theaters this week, plus a few holdovers, and how to tailor them to the family members and friends you're entertaining. If we stick together we can get through this-- and then repeat the whole process when Christmas comes around in a few weeks.

When you're not traveling by boat any time soon and you're not completely sick of 3D: Life of Pi.
It's got some of the best reviews of the holiday season, which can also help sway some family members who aren't sure they want to spend two hours trapped in a lifeboat with a menacing tiger. And the 3D visuals that are being compared to Avatar really are worth the price of admission, and ought to give you plenty to discuss in the parking lot: "Can you believe what that whale looked like?"
Best for: Anyone old enough not to be completely traumatized by the sight of the tiger, and landlocked enough not to spend the rest of the holiday afraid of the ocean.
Kind of like that time you all saw… Hugo in 2011, because of the impressive 3D and its power to whisk you away to a new world

Watch The ROCK' s new Trailer- 'Snitch'

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shows that he could be a good father in the first trailer for his new actioner "Snitch". The pro wrestler-turned-actor risks his life to save his only son, who is wrongfully accused of something he never did. In between the action scenes, there are some touching moments when The Rock gets teary and lets out all his emotion when seeing his son in jail.

The Rock headlines this fast-paced thriller as a father whose teenage son is wrongly accused of a crime and is sentenced to 10 years in jail. In order to clear his son's name, he dangerously goes undercover and risks everything, including his own life, to reduce his son's sentence. The story is adapted from true event by screenwriters Justin Haythe and Ric Roman Waugh, who also serves behind the lens.

Joining The Rock in "Snitch" cast ensemble are Barry PepperJon Bernthal, Michael K. Williams, Melina Kanakaredes, Rafi Gavron, Nadine Velazquez and Benjamin Bratt. Summit Entertainment will release the movie in the United States on February 22, 2013.

New Brad Pitt Trailer. Killing Them Softly

Brad Pitt's next outing, KILLING THEM SOFTLY, has had a few delays and a title change (formerly COGAN'S TRADE), but mostly positive reviews and a slick marketing campaign.  Today, we have a new trailer for the film, which reteams Pitt with Andrew Dominik, the director of THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD.  Based on the novel by George V. Higgins, the story follows a mob enforcer (Pitt) who is investigating a poker game robbery.  Sounds pretty thin, but you throw in an intricately woven, metaphor-laden story with some stylish brutality and this could very well be this year's DRIVE.  Pitt is joined by veteran actors Ray LiottaRichard JenkinsSam Shepard, andJames Gandolfini.

I prefer the "Johnny Cash" trailer myself, but this is still pretty cool.  I'm actually more excited for this than many other films coming out this season as it's not an easy one to peg.  I'm genuinely interested to see this on the big screen as Dominik (who also did CHOPPER with Eric Bana) has got a unique visionary style and Pitt is in top form at this stage of his career.  All in all, I'm thinking this could be a sleeper hit.
KILLING THEM SOFTLY is out November 30, 2012.

Stallone wants Rambo 5?

Like a trailer-park shower, Sylvester Stallone goes hot and cold on a fifth “Rambo”.
Shortly after the release of 2008′s “Rambo”, Sly had suggested “Rambo 5″ was inching closer to a Nikon (there were even sales posters for the film doing the rounds at the various film markets around the world; whether or not that was the production company trying to interest buyers to snap up pre-sales for a film Sly wasn’t even officially attached to at that stage, I don’t know…), but he seemingly cooled on the idea shortly after. The main reason for the reluctance seems to be the absence of a good, fitting story (one idea had Rambo taking on some sort of Predator-esque figure in the jungle; another had him taking on a Mexican drug cartel.) But in recent times, the 66-year-old has also suggested he might be too old to bring back the muscly war vet.

With the resurgence in all these ‘real men, real muscle’ action movies of late, most notably “The Expendables” franchise, but also the dozen or so projects Arnold Schwarzenegger has coming out, there seems to be renewed interest in Rambo again.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Former movie rivals ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER and SYLVESTER STALLONE are now such good pals. The former action heroes enjoying some time together and seem to be inseperable. Both share the same passion, to collect fast and expensive cars. SYLVESTER revealed in an interview that he was jealous of ARNOLD because of his career as governor and his enthusiasm.
While Stallone isn’t saying for sure that John Rambo will make one final reappearance on the big screen, the man’s comments of late do suggest a reprise could be in the cards again.
Back in May, the actor told MTV News that he’d like the character to go out in a ‘Blaze of Glory’.
“I know there is [another story to tell]. It’s one thing where you lay down the final culmination of your life where you can articulate it, but also act on it where [Rambo] realizes what his destiny really is. It’s not to be a farmer, it’s not to be obscure; it’s to go out in a blaze of glory in a heroic fashion. But is he really doing it for himself or is he doing it because that’s just his id? That’s who he is.”
At the time, Sly suggested the idea of Rambo going knife-to-knife with Mexican crime gangs was still of interest. A scenario in Mexico seems to be a good bet, since the setting whisper has cropped up numerous times over the years.
This week, while in Rome, Stallone told reporters that “Rambo 5″ might happen – if his body agrees to it.
“If my damn body holds up, it’ll be really good”, Digital Spy quoted Stallone. “Otherwise it won’t be Rambo fighting, it’ll be Rambo fighting arthritis,” Stallone joked.
If “Rambo 5″ comes to fruition, it’s likely it’ll encompass an epic, highly-emotional conclusion to the plight of the character (much like “Rocky Balboa” did its main character) – as Stallone’s ‘Blaze of Glory’ comments suggestion. I do wonder… Sly has said before he wants Rambo to go home, but is home for Rambo the peace and tranquility of the family homestead, or is it the action-man’s Valhalla in the sky? Whatever the case, I do hope that final scenes hints at Rambo finally getting the ‘time-out’ he’s been owed for years now
